Mt. Abang Trekking

The longest and hardest sunrise trek we run: higher than Batur, far quieter, and a genuine day's work. You set off through farmland and pine forest, then climb steeply to 2,152 m. On a clear morning the summit gives you the whole compass: Lake Batur below, Mount Agung along the ridge, Rinjani across the water on Lombok, and the north coast behind you. Come with some hiking behind you.

How the trip runs

1. 2:30 AMMeet your guide in Kintamani and go through the route.
2. 3:00 AMSet off through local farmland and pine forest. Quiet, and cold enough for a jacket.
3. 4:00 AMThe steep section starts, and it does not really let up.
4. 6:00 AMReach the summit ridge at 2,152 m.
5. 6:15 AMSunrise, with Lake Batur, Mount Agung, Rinjani and the north coast around you.
6. 7:15 AMStart down. Three to four hours back through the jungle trail.
7. 11:00 AMBack at the meeting point.
